COB OVENS |
| |
|
 |
- The satisfaction one feels when cooking in an earthen oven is incredible.
- The mild smoke flavor gives the food unique character.
- It involves making a fire in the oven at least 2 hours before cooking, so that the cob can absorb the heat of the fire, and radiates it out during baking.
- If cooking pizza or bread, the coals can be swept off the floor and placed directly on the fire bricks.
- When at its optimum temperature, a perfectly baked pizza will be ready in just 5 minutes!
- Anything you would bake in a conventional oven can be baked in a cob oven: casseroles, quiche, cakes, cookies, bread, soups, meat, veggies, etc.
- Besides being excellent for cooking, a cob oven also provides an outdoor fireplace and gathering area, allowing you to enjoy being outside more.
- An oven can be either built on site, or can be custom made and delivered.
- An oven can have a copper tubing placed inside to heat up water for tea.
- An oven can be artistically sculpted or as a plain design to fit the individual preferences.
The following are examples of cob benches either by themselves or as part of an oven.
The combination of a cob oven and bench is called a “ovench” |
